Nacida en Hamburgo, Alemania, en 1962, de padre noruego y madre francesa, Caroline Bergvall creció en Suiza, Noruega y Francia, con estadías prolongadas en los Estados Unidos y el Reino Unido. Estudió en la Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle en París, obtuvo un Magíster en Filosofía de la Universidad de Warwick, Bretaña y un doctorado del Dartington College of Arts.

Sus colecciones de poesía y textos híbridos incluyen Strange Passage: A Choral Poem (Equipage, 1993), Éclat: sites 1-10 (1996), Jets-Poupée (1999), Goan Atom (2001), Fig (2005), y Meddle English (Nightboat, 2010), entre otros.

Los trabajos de Bergvall destacan por su combinación de textos literarios, visuales y performáticos dentro del mismo proyecto. Su trabajo artístico y en performance ha sido presentado internacionalmente en el MoMA (NYC), Tate Modern (Londres), el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Amberes), MCA (Denver), MACBA (Barcelona), Fundación Tapies (Barcelona), Godsbanen (Arhus), Arnolfini Gallery (Londres), The Serpentine Gallery (Londres), entre otros.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1962, to a Norwegian father and French mother, Caroline Bergvall grew up in Switzerland, Norway, and France with longer periods in the U.S. and England. She studied at Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle in París, received an M. Phil. from the University of Warwick, Britain, and a doctorate from the Dartington College of Arts.

Her collection of poetry and hybrid texts include Strange Passage: A Choral Poem (Equipage, 1993), Éclat: sites 1-10 (1996), Jets-Poupée (1999), Goan Atom (2001), Fig (2005), and Meddle English (Nightboat, 2010), among others.

Bergvall’s works are noted for their combination of performative, visual, and literary texts within the same project. Her artistic and performance work has been commissioned and presented internationally at MoMA (NYC), Tate Modern (London), MAC (Antwerp), MCA (Denver), MACBA (Barcelona), Fundación Tapies (Barcelona), Godsbanen (Arhus), Arnolfini Gallery (London), The Serpentine Gallery (Londres), among others.
